Jamie Brunson

Jamie Brunson’s  art is inspired by her devoted practice of Kundalini meditation, a traditional Indian form based on rhythmic, cyclical breathing. She layers transparent and opaque colors in oil, alkyd, and beeswax, resulting in patterns and glowing fields of color.  She uses the physical qualities of her mediums to express sensory phenomena that occur in meditation- blurring, vibration, spatial depth, dissolving, and radiance. Jamie Brunson received her BFA in painting from the California College of the Arts and her MFA from Mills College in Oakland, California.
