Jenny Nelson
Hudson Valley artist Jenny Nelson creates abstract expressionist style paintings with loose gestural marks and brushstrokes. She begins each of her canvases by first drawing with an oil stick and then applying layers of improvised color. Through a process of building up, editing, and taking away fields of color, shapes, and forms, she finds a composition that is energetic, responsive, and finely tuned. Jenny studied art at Maine College of Art, the Lacoste School of Art in France and Bard College, where received a BFA. She lives, paints and teaches classes from her studio in Woodstock, New York.
