Maggie Meiners

Maggie Meiners received a BA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Colorado, Boulder, a MA in Education from DePaul University, Chicago, and a MFA in Media Studies from Maine Media College. An interdisciplinary artist whose work revolves around self-critique, Maggie’s work symbolizes all the varied emotions and complexities that make us human. Heavily influenced by image culture and how it personally affects her, Maggie deftly deploys photography, stock imagery, film stills, cultural artifacts, and magazines to tackle subjects such as identity, gender, and social status. Using appropriation, assemblage, film making, and installations, she explores the psychological effects of popular imagery on her psyche.
