Kathleen Dunn’s landscape paintings capture the expansive horizons and distinctive cloud formations of the American Midwest. Sitting on an edge between abstraction and realism, her focus is on wide open spaces throughout various seasons of the year. She often incorporates a hint of a building or structure far in the distance in her compositions. Working in oil on canvas, her paintings are a study in light, harmonious layers of color, and seemingly effortless brushwork. Intentionally uncomplicated, her beautiful landscapes evoke a calm that is reminiscent of the great American landscape painters.

Kathleen Dunn studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and received her BA in studio art from Barat College. Her work is shown in galleries in New York and throughout the Midwest.
